Manuel “Pocky” Amaro flexes muscles after winning his championship matchThe East Eagles, under first-year Head Coach Tyler Lundquist, concluded the 2024 CHSAA 4A State Wrestling Championships as runner-up to Mead, who captured the school’s first team title.

The second-place finish complements back-to-back state titles and caps a 2024 tournament that saw two Eagles – Manuel “Pocky” Amaro and Deven Lopez – claim state championships and Niko Fernandez place second.

Additionally, Eagles Julian Espinoza and Justus Freeman earned third-place finishes, and Elijah Contreras placed sixth.

Also in 4A, Centennial Bulldog Jason Soto placed third and South’s Cruz Martinez placed fourth.

From Central, Genaro Pino is a 3A state champion, with his teammate David Sanchez a runner-up, and Onesimo Rodriguez a fourth-place finisher.

Also from Central, Acelyn Duran is a state runner-up, Kenna Pino a fifth-place finisher and Lilliana Lopez a sixth-place finisher.

In 2A, Dolores Huerta’s Miguel Franco captured a state title.
