CENTRAL SENIOR SELECTED FOR PRESTIGIOUS NATIONAL GRIDIRON SHOWCASE
Michael “Batman” Montoya, who excelled on both offense and defense for the Central Wildcats, will represent his school and the Pueblo community on the national stage during the annual Blue-Grey All American Bowl in the Dallas region.
Mike will play linebacker for the Blue team, joining the best gridiron athletes from the West. The contest will be played in AT&T Stadium: home of the Dallas Cowboys.
A three-year varsity player at Central, No. 22 Mike holds the distinction of scoring in 22 consecutive games. In his senior season, he was selected 3A Southern League Co-Defensive Player of the Year and First Team All League as a running back. Mike also was named Great American Rivalry Series MVP for his performance in the 2023 Bell Game.
As a junior, he was a CHSAA All State honorable mention selection.
In his career at Central, Mike amassed 1,955 rushing yards and scored 35 touchdowns and 13 2-point conversions. When defending, he was credited with 244 solo tackles, 5 caused fumbles, 5 blocked punts and a fumble recovery.
Mike was twice named KRDO’s Player of the Week and was honored by The Pueblo Chieftain, Colorado Prep Report, Playmakers Corner, Colorado Prep Red Zone, and Scouts Smart for his on-field performances.
A versatile scholar athlete, Mike is a musician and is adept at welding and fabrication.
Planning to continue his academic and athletic journey at the next level, Mike is considering a scholarship offer from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks. He plans to study music production in college.
