2024 INITIAL PERFORMANCE FRAMEWORKS RELEASED
The Colorado Department of Education has released preliminary 2024 District and School Performance Frameworks, based on achievement and growth on state assessments as well as post secondary measures. School Performance Frameworks are released annually as part of the accountability system for schools and districts.
The initial framework release indicates that 9 district schools remain in the top-tier with a “performance” framework assignment. Of note, Minnequa, Haaff and Irving Elementary Schools all significantly increased the number of points each school earned. Heritage Elementary, one of the schools who earned a “performance” rating, moved up from “improvement.” Additionally, 8 schools remained at “improvement,” the second-highest framework rating.
With several schools on the accountability clock, Superintendent Dr. Barbara Kimzey and her leadership team are working to increase student achievement across all grade levels and content areas. Actions will include a renewed emphasis on building instructional leadership capacity, a concentrated focus upon aligning the written, taught, and tested curriculum with state standards, and providing holistic, proactive, individualized supports for students in academics, attendance, and social-emotional wellness through implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
As part of MTSS implementation, the district is additionally implementing an attendance campaign entitled “Be Present, Be Powerful” to encourage and support students’ on-time, daily attendance at school.
“We have renewed our commitment to ensuring that all of our students reach their full potential,” Superintendent Kimzey said, with “intense root-cause analysis” along with continual progress monitoring through a planned implementation of a data dashboard forming the foundation for improvement planning and implementation.
“Ensuring our students have the proactive supports that they need to be in school and learning, along with providing aligned, rigorous instruction serve as our key, foundational strategies for improvement,” Superintendent Kimzey added.
