ARE YOU READY FOR THE START OF SCHOOL?

A young girl wearing a helmet rides a bike As well all enjoy the waning days of summer, it’s time to remind everyone that the first day of school is August 20: less than a month away!

As we approach the start of another exciting and event-filled school year, this year’s focus will be on attendance, and the importance of showing up for class every day.

A missed school day is a lost opportunity for students to not only learn and grow, but enjoy all the activities and fellowship that come with being a D60 scholar. Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than students who do not, with this relationship between attendance and achievement often appearing early in a child's school career.

That’s why it’s very important to “Be Present, Be Powerful!”

The start of a new school year also means the need to be prepared with the proper materials and supplies.

This year, we’ve made the process of school supply shopping much easier by partnering with TeacherLists.

On the home page of your child’s school, you will find a “For Parents” link that hosts a virtual school supply list. You can use the “add to cart” option to add supplies to your major retailer shopping cart.

You have the option of customizing your list by adding or removing items from your cart and can compare prices by adding items to multiple carts before checking out, in order to get the best deal.

If you prefer to shop in-store, you can print the list or view it on your mobile device.
