DISTRICT WELCOMES WELLNESS COORDINATOR TO TEAM

Stephanie Swithers smiles for cameraWith a goal of improving the health and wellness of students, families and staff, Stephanie Swithers is the District’s new Wellness Coordinator.

“I have worked in preventative health and the wellness field for the last 20 years,” she said. “I worked on many grant funded positions to improve chronic disease in Pueblo County and was an instructor at Colorado State University Pueblo for five years. I recently left UCHealth Parkview, where I was the Employee Wellness Coordinator for the last 16 years.”

Stephanie’s goal in the District is to focus on “whole person wellness.”

“This includes physical components of healthy eating, exercise, and good sleep, and then stretches beyond to mental, social and emotional health,” she said. “The District Wellness program will include policies, programs, and activities in all areas of health.”

The program will kick off at 7:30 a.m. July 8, with a yoga session at East High School.

“Along with many years of health education background, I have a passion for teaching yoga and mindfulness, and being outside,” she said. “And I am super excited about this new opportunity to work with a broader population of people in my community and make positive impacts in people's lives.”

Stephanie is the mother an incoming senior Central Wildcat.
