National Interpreter Appreciation Day is celebrated on the first Wednesday of May, recognizing the experts who keep the lines of communication open.
Carmen Olivas has been with District 60 since 2002. She serves as an interpreter for all District schools, including D60 Online, and also interprets for live district and community events.
Additionally, Carmen translates all District forms and communications to Spanish."My favorite part of the job is working with the families and schools, supporting our monolingual families," she said.
