“SPREAD KINDNESS” THE THEME OF THIS YEAR’S PEACE SUMMIT
One of the District's most anticipated events of the school year, D60’s Community Peace Summit, drew hundreds of visitors to the Pueblo Convention Center to see how D60 scholars and educators are promoting kindness, positivity, and encouragement.
The Summit reflects the District’s goal of fostering peace and harmony in its schools and engaging families and the community in the promotion of kindness and empathy.
With a theme of “Spread Kindness,” the Summit featured the performance talents of Fountain Roary Lions and Risley cheerleaders; addresses from Superintendent Dr. Barbara Kimzey and East senior Devin Klock – founder of the “A Kindness a Day” campaign and Colorado DECA president; and the introduction of the District’s Kindness Coaches, who work to promote harmony and empathy throughout the school year.
A number of community partners joined representatives of elementary, middle and high schools in hosting stations that offered resources, gifts, activities and photo opportunities.
In addition to a tidal wave of smiles and well wishes, all guests received a free Peace Summit.
