    Title I Compact

  • Overview

    Pueblo Academy of Arts and the parents of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) agree that this compact outlines how the parents, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve the State’s high academic standards.

  • Pueblo Academy of Arts will:

    Provide a high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet the state’s student academic achievement standards as follows:

    • Inclusion of a social/emotional program  within the classroom to support all students in developmental  maturity
    • Positive Behavior support instruction for academic and behavioral expectations
    • A community advocate and full-time counselor to help support our students and parents
    • A safe and engaging learning environment that incorporates PBIS, No Bully, and Second Step Social-Emotional Learning Curriculum
    • Capturing Kids’ Hearts processes to strengthen student connectedness by enhancing healthy bonds
    • Rigorous academic curriculum that challenges students at a higher level

    Hold Student-Led Conferences during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement.  Specifically, those conferences will be held:

    • October 2022
    • February 2023

    Provide parents with frequent reports on their children’s progress.  Specifically, the school will provide reports as follows:

    • Grade checks (upon request)
    • Infinite Campus Parent Portal Access
    • Student-led Conferences
    • Progress Reports approximately halfway through each grading period (available via Infinite Campus Parent Portal)

    Provide parents with reasonable access to staff.  Specifically, staff will be available for consultation with parents as follows:

    • Hold an annual “Open House” to meet staff and learn about Title I programs
    • Parent Portal school website at www.pueblod60.us
    • Principals and/or counselors are available at all times for emergency meetings.
    • Request and schedule a meeting with a staff member
    • Staff email addresses are available on the school’s website.

    Provide parents opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities, as follows:

    • All parents have the right to know if their child’s teacher is “Highly Qualified” and what the teacher’s qualifications are; or if services are given by a paraprofessional, they have the right to know that services are given by a paraprofessional and to know the paraprofessional’s qualifications
    • Attend school functions/sporting events during the day or evening
    • Complete volunteer background check
    • Make the School Parent Involvement Policy, school Newsletters, and informational literature available in the Parent Resource Center located on the Pueblo Academy of Arts website.
    • Sign in and wear a volunteer badge at all times


    Parent Responsibilities

    We, as parents, will support our children’s learning in the following ways:

    • Making sure that homework is completed
    • Participating, as appropriate, in decisions relating to my children’s education
    • Promoting positive use of my child’s extracurricular time.
    • Staying informed about my child’s education and communicating with the school by promptly reading all notices from the school and/or school district either received by my child or by mail and responding, as appropriate
    • Attend parent nights, conferences, and parent meetings concerning your child
    • Attend School Events and Activities (Music Performances, Title I Family Nights, Open House)
    • Monitor attendance and excuse absences when necessary


    Student Responsibilities

    We, as students, will share the responsibility to improve our academic achievement and achieve the State’s high standards.  Specifically, we will:

    • Do my homework every day and ask for help when I need to
    • Attend school regularly
    • Be respectful to all adults and my peers
    • Come prepared for class every day and ready to learn
    • Engage in the No Bully Protocol to make our school a safe place
    • Strive to earn a 3.0 or better GPA

  • Title One Programs and Plan

    • Inform parents about goals and purposes of Title I, curriculum used in Title I programs, academic assessments used to measure student progress, and proficiency levels students are expected to meet.
    • Involve parents in the planning, review, and improvement of Title I programs at school.
    • If the Title I Plan is not satisfactory to the parents, submit parent comments on the plan to the district.
    • If requested by parents, provide opportunities for regular meetings where parents may offer suggestions or ask questions.
    • Provide timely responses to parent’s suggestions/questions.
    • Provide assistance to parents, as appropriate, in understanding assessments, Title I requirements, monitoring academic progress, and how to work together to improve student achievement.
