District 60 Wellness Policy

  • Our District has developed a Wellness Policy that is focused on improving the health of students. The policy was developed by the Health and Wellness Advisory Council, which includes teachers, parents, administrators, and the district nurse. If you are interested in becoming a part of this advisory committee, please contact the Office of School Nutrition at nutrition@pueblod60.org. You may also provide feedback on the school meal programs using the same email address, nutrition@pueblod60.org, or by calling (719) 549-7203.

Key Areas of Our Wellness Policy

Balance is essential for any Wellness Policy. Key areas include:

    • Nutrition Education
    • Physical activity
    • Other school-based activities are designed to promote student wellness.

    Local Wellness Policy Updates

On July 29, 2016, the USDA Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) finalized regulations to create a framework and guidelines for written wellness policies established by Local Education Agencies (LEA). The final rule requires LEAs to begin developing a revised local school wellness policy during School Year 2016-2017. LEAs must fully comply with the requirements of the final rule by June 30, 2017.
