Approaches to Learning Skills
-
Through Approaches to Learning (ATL) in IB programs, students develop skills that have relevance across the curriculum that help them "learn how to learn". ATL skills are developed over time and are addressed at each grade level in an age-appropriate manner. Teachers incorporate learning experiences that encourage students to use these skills in all areas of learning: Communication, Self-management, Research, Thinking, Social.
The counselors can support students who have difficulty mastering these skills (Communication, Social, Self-management). Referrals can be made by teachers, parents, or students.
